Background:
Founded in 1901; has occupied current 26-acre landscaped site on Marlow Hill, near the M40, since 1956. Successive building programmes, resulting in excellent specialist facilities for science, drama, sports, technology and the sixth form. National curriculum supplemented by drama, Latin and second modern language in Key Stage 3. Wide range of subjects at GCSE and A-level. Extra-curricular activities include overseas challenge visits, community service, music, drama, dance and many sports; reputation for music and dance. School raised £500,000 in 2003/2004 for new learning centre, due to open in 2006. Specialist mathematics and computing college status from September 2005. Over-subscribed, with 1.6 applications per place. Artsmark Gold (2005); Investor in People status (2004); DfES achievement award (2003). Ethos: 'Friendly, purposeful, with emphaiss on community. Excellence is taken for granted as our primary aim'.
