Background:
Tylers Green Junior school was built in 1968 on land belonging to Ashwells Manor Farm. The junior school became the middle school in 1973. Since the school opened the first and middle schools have had a common governing body and most of the pupils come from the Tylers Green first school. Extra-curricular activities include a choir, an orchestra, recorder club, netball, football, table-tennis, cricket, and athletics clubs, a chess club, the library, cycling awareness and the pupil committee. There are school teams for football and netball. Last year the football team won the district and county six-a-side tournaments and the netball A-team came third in tournanments. The school holds events throughout the year including a musical production, a Comic Relief talent show and a musical soiree. The school encourages children to raise money for charity. Over-subscribed, with 1.5 applications per place.
