Background:
The school founded as a Victorian board school in 1874, the school now occupies premises dating from 1962, comprising six classrooms, a hall, library, office and staffroom. It is situated high in the Chiltern hills to the west of High Wycombe, it offers a playground, small indoor swimming pool and large playing field. Pupils attend from Bledlow Ridge, Saunderton and local towns and come from a range of socio-economic backgrounds. The over-subscribed school offers a 'wide variety' of sport including swimming, cricket, rounders, tag rugby, footbnall, athletics, gym and dance. Children participate in Liaison Group sports events. The school won the rounders event in 2001 and came top of the football league in 2000. Extra-curricular activities, such as country dancing, art, sport and wildlife, are organised by staff and parents. A learning support assistant is available for children experiencing difficulties. The school is proud of its 'very strong' village and community links and its 'active' parents' association. 'Our school has a positive, caring ethos and a safe, ordered and secure environment. Children are happy and generally do their best here.
